Review: Supergirl Season 1 Episode 1 "Pilot" [Series Premiere]

EPISODE SUMMARY:

Kara at age 12 was sent from her dying home planet of Krypton to Earth, where she was taken in by the Danvers, a foster family who taught her to be careful with her extraordinary powers. After being forced to bust out her super moves in public during an unexpected disaster, she begins embracing her abilities in the name of helping the people of her city.

RATING:★★★✩✩ Very Good!

The series premiere of Supergirl starts off by giving us Kara Zor-El's back story. Later, we see her struggle between choosing to be who she truly is or continuing to stay hidden. Truths are revealed. New friends are made. And Kara's first enemy arrives in town. But there's someone more sinister behind it all, someone Kara thought to be long dead.

I would say that this pilot episode was a really good solid introduction to the series. It was great seeing Kara's journey to becoming Supergirl. There's hints of a love triangle beginning between James, Kara, and Winn. Cat is a great character that I really liked. She's snooty and quite frankly full of herself, but she's also this really strong female character that Kara seems to look up to. Then there are the escaped criminals from Fort Rozz and the General leading them. Kara's connection to the General adds mystery to the show. What are the Generals true reasons for wanting to take over Earth and kill Kara? I can't wait to see where all these relationships go in the future episodes and what the outcome will be in the end.
