Review: Supergirl Season 1 Episode 4 "Livewire"

EPISODE SUMMARY:

Kara's foster mother visits for Thanksgiving; Cat and Supergirl become targets when an accident transforms a volatile CatCo employee into Livewire.

AIRED: November 16, 2015

RATING:★★★★★ Extraordinary!

I think that this was my favorite episode so far. You have electric whips, Ghostbuster traps, Thanksgiving family drama, and devastating secrets revealed.

Livewire is probably my favorite villain so far, hence this being my favorite episode up to this point in the series. The way she can dematerialize into electricity and travel through electronics is cool and her electric whips were awesome.

I'm really feeling it for Winn. That poor man. It is so obvious that he has feeling for Kara. If she's not interested, then she just needs to tell him. Because each time he feels like he's moving toward something with her, she crushes his heart with her awkward rejections. Oh, but we do learn a bit about Winn's father that I'm sure will play into a future episode (hint, hint).

There's a lot of drama this Thanksgiving in the Danvers family when Eliza visits. Alex feels like she can't do anything right in her mother's eyes, but the truth about her mother's feelings is revealed at the end of the episode. Did Hank have something to do with her father's death?

There are a couple heart-to-heart moments in this episode. One between Alex and her mother. But my favorite was between Cat and Kara. Cat isn't an open person about her personal life, but when Kara tells her about the drama at home and vaguely what to her real parents, Cat surprising opens up a bit about her own mother. I think I liked this moment so much because it was unexpected. You don't expect Cat Grant to open up to you about anything personal in her life. She's usually all about business. Cat even realizes that she doesn't know all that much about Kara and that that may need to chance.
